Boaters love docking in Longboat Key

Longboat Key is (unsurprisingly) a long island on the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway, in between the Gulf of Mexico and Sarasota. Longboat Key was first discovered by the Spanish in 1538, but then left uninhabited until the latter half of the 19th-century when a settlement developed there. Since then Longboat Key has grown, and boaters can take advantage of all that this attractive island holds by relaxing on its white sand beaches during the day, watching glorious red sunsets in the evening, and dining out in any of the many restaurants at night.
