Boaters love docking in Key Biscayne

Key Biscayne is, aside from Virginia Key, the northernmost of the Florida Keys and is directly accessible from mainland Miami by the Rickenbacker causeway, or just as easily a 20 to 30 minute ride on your boat south of the Government Cut Inlet in south Miami. Key Biscayne is unique in that it offers a sizeable town with a mixture of residences and nearby entertainment (it even has a Ritz Carlton hotel) that is sandwiched between two state parks - Crandon Park to the north and Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park to the south. Boaters can drop anchor just offshore from the island's beachfront and take in the local surroundings, or explore the state park grounds. If you have a bit of time, you don't want to miss the Cape Florida Lighthouse on the southern tip, which offers guided tours and was constructed in 1825. Whatever you choose to do on Key Biscayne, just realize that it offers the best of both worlds - shopping and entertainment mixed with natural wonders and is all at the same time a stone's throw away from downtown Miami.
